Research and field testing of structural heat treatments focus on reaching termites inside wood, not simply raising the room temperature for a few hours.
In other words, leaving the air conditioning off during a heat wave is not a termite treatment. It is mainly a good way to make everyone in the house unhappy.

Subterranean Termites Stay Protected Underground
Subterranean termites live and reproduce in soil. Their colonies may extend well below the ground, where temperatures and moisture levels are more stable than they are at the surface. Clean the area and check whether the pile returns. Reappearing pellets can indicate active drywood termite activity somewhere above or nearby.
Mud Tubes

Do not assume an old-looking tube is harmless. Determining whether termites are active and how far the infestation extends requires a complete inspection.
